Job Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONThe Chief Financial Officer is directly responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring of systems that ensure sound financial practices, internal controls, effective financial reporting processes and regulatory compliance. In addition the CFO will proactively research and identify opportunities for fiscal efficiencies and opportunities to leverage economies of scale. All efforts to ensure the continued financial integrity and viability of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain in support of its mission. KEY ROLESLeadershipEstablish and implement systems, policies and procedures for all financial management practices and functions, ensuring appropriate internal and external controls, and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.Develop the knowledge base and skills of staff in leadership roles so as to effectively engage them in the development, implementation, monitoring and course correction of organizational budgets.Lead the treasury function of the organization inclusive of all banking, cash management, risk control and investment allocation with the support and guidance of the Board Finance Committee.Strategic PlanningTake the lead to evaluate, test and select business systems and technology solutions that meet the evolving needs of BGCCP as a $6M+ and growing organization. Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Team and Board of Directors to develop annual income and expense budgets. Provide timely and complete reporting of financial results and recommendations for necessary actions to maintain the fiscal health of the organization.Develop financial forecasts, pro forma projections and financial impact evaluations for internal and external leadership.Identify, evaluate and implement cost control and efficiency opportunities.Resource Development Work directly with the Chief Development Officer to provide information for promoting and monitoring fundraising activities, the submission of grant requests and the management, recording and monitoring of fiscal grant activity.Ensure the selection of business systems meets the needs of donor management and reconciles fiscal and fund development records and tracking.Resource Management Lead organizational planning and development of operating and fund account budgets, and collaboratively control expenditures against budget.Oversee the maintenance of financial records and recordkeeping systems to ensure adequate internal controls, compliance with all regulations, generally accepted accounting practices and contractual requirements.Oversee the financial risk management functions of the organization, inclusive of insurance reviews and renewals, risk assessment and recommendations for equity protection.Lead the annual external audit to ensure the integrity of information and records and the production of financial statements for BGCCP.Ensure a productive work environment within the finance and accounting function and across departmental leaders and team members.Recruit, select, manage and provide career development opportunities for staff, interns and volunteers working with and within the finance and accounting function. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain payroll records. Train unit leaders in proper procedures regarding cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budgeting as needed or requested. Attend meetings of Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and/or Human Resources Committee in an advisory role, as requested. Assist Unit Directors in budget preparation and management, as requested. RELATIONSHIPSInternal: Maintain contact with Unit Directorsto provide technical assistance in matters of financial operations; interact regularly with Chief Executive Officer and the Board to develop fiscal policies and budgets, and to present regular reports in an advisory capacity.External: Maintain contact with external auditors, vendors, insurance carriers, and other groups. SKILLS / EXPERIENCEBachelor of Accounting degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher education CPA preferred At least five (5) years of public accounting, nonprofit experience highly desired Excellent verbal and written communication, outstanding relationship management Experience in supervisory management Proficiency in creating and presenting complex organizational budgets and report documents as well as deciphering and communicating organizational data Candidates must be able to pass a drug test, criminal and driving records investigation A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy is also a prerequisite. COMPENSATIONCommensurate with experience.
