By partnering with these students, their families, and a variety of educational communities, the STEPP Program fosters a network of opportunities and resources to empower and support students from admission to graduation from East Carolina University. By providing access to college for a bright group of students, designing an integrated and collaborative system of support on a public university campus, researching short-term and long-term outcomes, and partnering with a continuum of educational settings based on what we learn, STEPP will achieve the ultimate goal of the program - to open the door to a college education for students with learning disabilities here and at other universities. The STEPP Program offers comprehensive academic, social, and life-skills support to a select number of students with identified Specific Learning Disabilities who have shown the potential to succeed at ECU. Funded primarily with private gifts, this program provides a unique opportunity to a population that traditionally may not have access to college. College STAR (Supporting Transition Access and Retention) is a grant-funded project that enables participants to partner in the development of initiatives focused on helping postsecondary campuses become more welcoming of students with learning and attention differences. Job Duties The candidate of choice has to perform the administrative duties for the STEPP Program and College STAR initiative. This person has to collaborate with the program and project directors, principal investigator, and other members of the program teams. This person will assist with grant budget management, record-keeping, and reporting. Attention to detail is an important skill to have. The person in this position will manage itineraries and logistics for training events, travel itineraries, reimbursements, supply and equipment purchasing, student hires and logistics for an annual conference. Knowledge of university policies and regulations, and a professional demeanor with all contacts is important. The person in this position has to independently use sound judgment based on knowledge of and experience with university protocol, as well as granting agency policies and procedures. Assistance with clerical support and (as appropriate) dissemination of information using a variety of formats and to varied audiences is important. Minimum Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
