Job Description:
The City of Greenville, SC is seeking a dedicated and
experienced Vegetation Manager to join our Urban Planning and
Development team. This position plays a crucial role in managing
and enhancing the urban landscape of Greenville, ensuring it is
sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and safe for the community.
The Vegetation Manager will be responsible for developing and
implementing vegetation management plans, coordinating with other
departments, and overseeing the maintenance and protection of
public green spaces. Develop and implement comprehensive vegetation
management plans for city parks, roadways, and other public areas.
Coordinate with other departments, external agencies, and
stakeholders to ensure alignment with city development goals.
Manage contracts and supervise activities related to planting,
maintaining, and removing trees and other vegetation. Conduct field
inspections and monitor the health and condition of the urban
forest. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and
promote sustainable practices. Prepare reports and presentations
for city council meetings and public hearings. Manage budget
allocations, procurements, and inventory for vegetation management
projects. Respond to public inquiries and concerns related to urban
vegetation. Strong knowledge of horticulture, arboriculture, and
urban forestry. Experience in urban planning, landscape design, or
environmental management. Proficiency in GIS and other landscape
design software. Excellent organizational, leadership, and
communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with various
stakeholders and manage multiple projects. Medical Insurance Dental

by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) preferred.
Professional certification in horticulture or landscape design is
desirable.
