The Brody School of Medicine Division of ECU Physicians Administration is responsible for the clinical and administrative oversight of ECU Physicians Group Practice, which includes all clinical activities for the Brody School of Medicine and its clinical departments. Group Practice departments include Patient Access Services, Managed Care, Clinical Financial and Business Operations, Patient Access Services, Health Information Systems/Services, Pharmacy Services, Staff Development, Translators (Spanish and Hearing Impaired) and Nursing Services. ECU Physicians provides a clinical atmosphere which contributes positively to the educational experience of medical students and residents and provides effective and efficient support of the School's Medical Faculty Practice Plan so as to economically sustain and support the organization's educational, research, and health care objectives. The Medical Faculty Practice Plan is comprised of over 320 physicians and an additional 130 credentialed medical providers who render professional services in a variety of inpatient and outpatient care settings and satellite locations throughout eastern North Carolina. ECU Physicians manages the leased clinical facilities and takes care of all of the facility service requests for preventive maintenance and repairs. Job Duties The primary purpose of the Nurse Specialist is to serve as a Health Coach for chronic disease management in ECU Physicians primary care clinics. The Nurse Specialist Health Coach would provide 1:1 support, education, oversight of care provided to patients with chronic diseases. The Nurse Specialist provides coaching and disease management services to identified populations. Facilitates comprehensive care planning and oversees data management to support process improvement. Supports evidence based practice and medical home/care coordination principles. The Nurse Specialist Health Coach would communicate with all members of the health care team to ensure the patient's care is coordinated. The Nurse Specialist will serve as role model/educator of all clinical staff in partnership to provide the best care to our patients. The Nurse Specialist performing these duties will be able to bill for services provided thus will need to be knowledgeable of billing practices. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Minimum Education/Experience Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years of nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area. Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. License or Certification required by statute or regulation Graduation from state-accredited school of registered nursing and two years or nursing experience, with at least one year in the assigned specialty area.
