Open Date: 01/18/2019 Date Initial Screening Begins: Minimum Education/Experience: Master's degree in exercise science, higher education, public health, recreation management or a related field. Minimum of five years of related experience with demonstrated progressive levels of administrative responsibilities. Experience managing well-being promotion program including strategic planning, supervising employees, and managing budgets. Working knowledge of effective marketing strategies. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, a collaborative management style, and the ability to work cooperatively with various faculty, staff, and students. First Aid, CPR, AED certification, or ability to obtain within first 60 days of employment. Job Duties: This position reports directly to the Director of Campus Recreation and Wellness, and supervises five full time professionals as well as graduate assistants, student employees and interns across all CRW facilities. The primary responsibility of this position is directing and providing administrative oversight for the comprehensive Wellness and Fitness programs for Campus Recreation and Wellness. The Associate Director is responsible for: overseeing program development and implementation; providing long and short-term strategic planning; budgeting and fiscal management of the Wellness and Fitness programs; providing risk management for Wellness and Fitness programs; assessing and evaluating programs and services; developing marketing and promotion efforts; providing leadership for and management of the Wellness and Fitness program unit; assessing programs and services. The Associate Director leads the University wellness and well-being initiative efforts through coordination and collaboration with campus partners, and serves as a resource person for ECU students, faculty and staff, as well as the Greenville community. This person will perform other duties as necessary for the advancement of Wellness and Fitness efforts within Campus Recreation and Wellness and the University. Specific Duties of the Associate Director of Wellness and Fitness Programs: Oversees a comprehensive wellness and fitness program to include, but not limited to, wellness programs, fitness programs, group fitness classes and personal training. Works with the Director in the administrative planning and implementation of all programs and services for wellness and fitness. Serves as a cohesive and unifying leader to the Wellness and Fitness area and an active participant of the CRW Leadership Team. Leads University wellness and well-being initiative efforts through coordination and collaboration with campus partners. Manages and promotes the passport program while collaborating with its many partners. Researches best practices to develop, implement, and evaluate wellness and fitness programs and initiatives. Prepares and manages the financial budget for wellness and fitness including but not limited to equipment, programs, and personnel. Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates wellness and fitness professional staff. Develops and revises wellness and fitness policies, procedures and goals. Continually evaluates and assesses the quality, impact and outcomes of programs offerings. Coordinate marketing and publicity efforts with appropriate staff to adequately publicize Wellness and Fitness. Manage Wellness and Fitness portion of the CRW website and related technologies including Connect 2, Orgsync, and Fusion. Lead and direct revenue generation in the form of grants and sponsorships for the wellness and fitness area. Serves as a referral source for campus and community. Serves as the primary CRW contact for wellness and fitness initiatives across the campus and community. Assist in the research, development, and implementation of a health coaching program within Campus Recreation and Wellness. Participate in the review and implementation of risk management standard operating procedures for Campus Recreation and Wellness. Create and support a culture that promotes overall well-being in collaboration with campus partners. Teach sections of COAD, KINE, and HLTH classes with potential additional teaching opportunities through the College of Health and Human Performance. Other duties as assigned.
