Vidant Medical Group and Vidant Medical Center, located in Greenville, North Carolina, are expanding and seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join their pediatric cleft and craniofacial plastic surgery program. The successful candidate will have responsibility for coordinating the pediatric cleft and craniofacial center including primarily seeing patients in the outpatient clinic with additional inpatient responsibilities including occasional assistance with rounding and consults. There will also be some exposure to the operating room to become familiar with the procedures that are done at the cleft and craniofacial center. You will receive additional on the job training including paid travel to observe other cleft and craniofacial centers and their coordination. The job description will begin broadly during the growth phase of the pediatric craniofacial center and include primarily working directly with the current pediatric craniofacial trained plastic surgeon. This will include both independent clinic and clinic with the surgeon, inpatient rounding and seeing consults, and either scrubbing or observing in the OR per preference. However, once the program grows, the primary responsibility will become that of independently coordinating the outpatient care of these patients. This would include but not be limited to coordinating the cleft and craniofacial center outpatient clinic, coordinating care among the different medical and surgical specialties involved in care, maintaining and updating a clinical database, and performing outreach activities to acquire new and maintain current referral sources. Significant growth in the program is expected.
Vidant Medical Center is eastern North Carolina's only level 1 trauma center and the destination for specialty surgical care. Applicants with at least 2 years of experience as a provider are preferred. In addition, specific pediatric experience would be necessary including certification as a pediatric nurse practitioner since this would primarily be a pediatric position especially long term.
