Job Description Job Description Description: PRN (as needed) Position Summary: Coordinate all phases of nutrition care including nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education and counseling of hospitalized patients and outpatients in a variety of settings. Perform duties in support of and in compliance with performance improvement plans, DNV, and other licensing, accrediting and regulatory agencies. Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer Functions of the Position: The following functions are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties performed by the position recipient: Develop, review, update, and implement educational materials to meet the needs of patients and professionals. Provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with the patient’s medical goals. Evaluate, interpret, monitor, and document the nutritional status and nutritional needs of hospitalized patients, out patients, using established standards of care and practice guidelines. Identify and provide age-specific nutrition counseling to meet the cultural needs of the patients and their families. Function as an integral member of the clinical interdisciplinary team. Adhere to Dosher Memorial Hospital’s proper dress code which includes the wearing of name badges. Maintain a professional rapport with patients, visitors, doctors, staff, and other departments. Demonstrate maturity and accountability for job performance. Support the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Department(s) and assess areas of personal and professional growth. Adhere to Dosher Memorial Hospital’s Standards of Behavior. Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures. Support and participate in quality initiatives as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition or comparable major Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration Licensed dietitian/ nutritionist (LDN) by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Two (2) years in an acute and long term care environment with one (1) year supervisory experience preferred Necessary Skills: Ability to comprehend and follow instructions Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations Familiarity with Regulatory Standards Physical Demands: Requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching Lifting/carry up to 30 lbs Repetitive finger movement Repetitive twisting and pressure involving hand and finger mobility Reaching at all levels
