Structural Heart Program Manager General Description of the Job
Class This Structural Heart Program Manager will provide oversight
and coordination of the Structural Heart Program, including
transcatheter aortic valve replacement as a primary focus as well
as other percutaneous valves and procedures (MitraClip,
percutaneous TVR, etc.) The Program Manager role is
programmatically and operationally focused and will support
clinical workflows and care in close coordination with
Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons,
Structural/Surgical/Inpatient Advanced Practice Providers (APP),
Nurse Clinicians, Structural Program Specialist and the
multidisciplinary team. The Program Manager will ensure a
streamlined and standard approach to care of structural heart
patients from initial contact and evaluation through treatment and
post procedural phases of care. The Program Manager will support
regulatory compliance, STS and TVT registry reporting, and quality
improvement initiatives in partnership with the clinical team,
Heart Center Leadership and the Center of Excellence. The Program
Manager will lead performance improvement initiatives, and be a
core driver of standard care pathways, patient centered care and
serve as a resource for instituting new procedures and care
pathways in Structural Heart. Duties and Responsibilities of this
Level - Ensure standard approach to patient care from referral
through post-procedure follow-up, ensuring seamless transitions and
timely interventions. - Ensure the completion of comprehensive
assessments, including frailty testing, risk scoring, and
medication reviews (Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire,
5-meter walk tests and STS risk assessment). - Ensure diagnostic
testing and procedure scheduling is coordinated in collaboration
with the Structural Heart Program Specialist and broader Structural
Heart Team. - Participate in the weekly patient case presentations
valve conferences; ensure accurate documentation in the EMR is
maintained by the broader Structural Team, including close
collaboration with the Structural Fellow and cardiologists in
compiling full screening portfolio. - Support standardized approach
to scheduling procedures post conference in coordination with the
TAVR Coordinator and dedicated virtual visit follow-ups. - Oversee
development of and portfolio of educational materials for patients,
families, and staff related to structural heart procedures and
therapies. - Serve as liaison among cardiology, cardiac surgery,
anesthesia, imaging, and other departments to resolve care
barriers. - Monitor compliance with CMS and registry requirements,
support data collection and quality initiatives, including standing
reviews of results at the weekly Valve Conference. - Collaborate on
program development, new device implementation, and process
improvement projects. - Initiate and coordinate outreach programs
and education for hospital staff around Structural Heart procedures
and TAVR. Qualifications - Education: BSN or higher - Licensure:
Current RN license in NC (or compact state); BLS required -
Experience: Minimum 3 years of specialty nursing in an acute
setting, preferably in cardiothoracic surgery or cardiology -
Skills: - Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking -
Excellent communication and time management - Proficiency in
Microsoft Office and EMR systems - Ability to foster teamwork and
