With a goal of becoming the most trusted name in premium proteins, we create products for consumers and for retail and foodservice customers around the globe, while changing the way animals are raised for food.SummaryProvides technical and regulatory knowledge to assist Safety and Security Manager in the solution of safety, health and security related issues. Principal and Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReview and track safety representatives and supervisor's safety inspections and monthly safety topics.Update and maintain Safety Data Sheet manuals and chemical inventory lists for OSHA compliance.Assist Safety & Security Manager in interviewing associates and gathering information on accidents and near misses.Conduct frequent safety walkthroughs of all departments to ensure all associates are complying with Personal Protective Equipment and general safety requirements.Assist the Safety & Security Manager in responding to associates needs and concerns for safety issues as they arise. Keep safety bulletin boards and posters updated and maintained with pertinent information.Post safety & ergonomic meeting minutes, etc.Train new safety representatives on proper safety inspection procedures and safety responsibilities.Conduct lockout/tagout safety training for associates that require a lockout device and perform competency testing for lockout trained associates.Oversee forklift-licensing program to ensure OSHA compliance with training and paperwork requirements.Assist the Safety & Security Manager in weekly safety orientation.Review and file safety inspections, confine space permits, accident reports, etc. as they come in to the safety office.Assist the Safety & Security Manager in taking notes and conducting the meetings for the dayshift and nightshift Safety Committees and the dayshift and nightshift Ergonomic Committee meetings.Conduct weekly audits of eye wash stations, fire extinguisher equipment, emergency evacuation maps, etc. and ensure documentation is updated.Order safety equipment as needed, research vendors for best pricing. Conduct audits on safety paperwork. Assist with HAZWOPER training. Distribute all safety paperwork.Minimum EducationStrong presentation skills and the ability to effectively train and educate associates at all levels within the company. Strong written and oral communication skills. Highly developed planning and organization skills. Ability to effectively communicate with government/regulatory agencies. Proficient knowledge of health and safety regulation issued by OSHA, Workers Compensation and other governmental agencies. Excellent computer skills. Experience PreferredIndustrial experience; professional certifications; bi-lingual capabilities; proficient knowledge of health and safety disciplines as related to food processing.Environmental Factors and Physical RequirementsPosition requires standing or walking for periods of time Sedentary in an office environment throughout a daily period but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.May need to access files, supplies and equipment.Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.When in a plant environment:Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.May be exposed to all chemicals used in a poultry processing environment including harsh odors of manure.Must wear and use protective safety equipment required for job as directed by the company Perdue Farms, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer.
