Job Description:

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE The Senior Environmental Field Technician, under the direction of the Project Manager provides field support and environmental field supervision for current and close-out projects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Conduct site inspections in support of utility solar construction projects; Inspect and enforce erosion control and stormwater management practices on all required sites; Manage field maintenance regarding client and regulatory requirements; Lead and assist crews to install SWPPP and NPDES erosion control measures per the ESCP and State Stormwater Management Program.. Support SWPPP permit reporting and monitoring through direct communication and written analytical reports; Maintain field construction records to document compliance, enforcement and corrective actions; Collaborate with other departments as well as key outside entities to achieve compliance and environmental program goals; Assist environmental program team in permitting processes and field collaboration; Extensive travel to various sites as dictated by construction schedule and ESCP needs; Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with company policies, procedures and safety practices; Attend work regularly at the designated place and time; Attend meetings, conferences and workshops; Support continuous process improvement initiatives; Perform related work as required. REQUIREMENTS: Good knowledge of environmental compliance regulations and requirements, specifically state and federal environmental policies; Competent ability to oversee and participate in BMP installations; Good knowledge of stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP's), erosion control devices, strategies, and practices; Large scale construction experience and awareness, preferably in the renewable energy industry; Ability to perform hands-on work necessary to perform BMP installations; Good knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity software; Ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications; Ability to operate a computer using applicable applications for assigned duties and responsibilities; Ability to organize and conduct environmental compliance and reporting activities; Ability to communicate effectively with property owners, utility representatives, contractors, developers, and regulatory agents; Ability to work safely using appropriate techniques and personal protective equipment; Ability to work cooperatively and to maintain working relationships to accomplish job responsibilities; Ability to quickly learn and adapt to construction schedules and demands; Ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in environmental health, environmental science, engineering, or technical or scientific field relating to environmental matters; experience in application of environmental laws/regulation to business, industry, or governmental operations At least 5-8 years of previous environmental construction experience At least 5 years of previous large scale construction experience Valid Driver's License Ability to travel extensively Ability to step up and take ownership of specific efforts Able to proactively champion environmental close out projects, and new projects seeing them through to completion Strong ability to work well with other groups in cross-functional teams Able to communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups with the company Other Duties Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Be able to lift, pull, push, carry materials and equipment to complete assigned job task Able to work 8 - 12 hours per day, 40 hours per week. Physical work is a primary part of the job Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers Regularly required to hear, speak, understand direction and maintain visual acuity.
