Echocardiography Technologist FLSA Status: Non-exempt About us

About the role: We are looking for an employee who is energetic,
compassionate, a professional communicator with a good bedside
manner who can multi-task and easily adapt to change. You will
produce detailed images of the cardiac muscle and help to gauge
heart function in patients. You will set up, monitor, adjust
complex ultrasound equipment, and offer positive and professional
communication with cardiologists and extenders. Supervision
Received: Reports to Manager of Diagnostics. Supervision Exercised:
None. Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion
including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger
dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and
walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50
pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Typical Working
Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic
substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a
clinical environment. Responsibilities: Prepare and position
patients for echocardiography exam and explain procedure to
patient. Prepares for examinations by checking equipment, taking
inventory of supplies, replenishing stock as needed, reviewing
physician orders and patient schedules, readying recording
equipment and inputting patient information. Perform clinical
activities relating to echocardiography examinations. Produces
high-quality imaging by accurately positioning transducer,
monitoring display, listening to signals, adjusting beam strength
and focus, detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities, and
recording images. Records examination details, produces
measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction
and velocity and comparing measurements to established norms.
Participate in QA activities including data collection,
categorizing information, and completing forms. Must be able to
perform 2D M-mode echocardiograms and color flow dopplers within a
45-minute period. Must have complete understanding of all the
various transducer positions and the ability to recognize when and
how to deviate from standard transducer position. Use substantial
judgment in operating, interpreting, and adapting instruments and
equipment to the needs of each patient. Assist in the development
and implementation of departmental policy and procedures to solve
specific operating problems and improve patient care. Works with
Radiology Work List (RIS) and Echo PACS system. Compile and prepare
preliminary reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse
trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Responsible
for tracking echo reports and charging procedures performed. Offer
advice concerning echocardiography procedures and equipment.
Maintain conformance with specific operational standards. Maintains
patient confidentiality and protects operations by following
established procedures to safeguard confidential information.
Performs related work as required. Location & commitments FT role
based at our Greenville Arlington location, Monday-Friday, 730 a.m.
- 4 p.m. or 830 a.m. - 530pm Overtime may be required to ensure
patients are taken care of, tasks are completed, and calls are
returned in a timely manner. Candidate requirements: Must be a
graduate from an accredited echocardiography program. Work requires
completion of an approved program in Sonography. A Certification or
registry is required from the American Registry of Diagnostic
Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers
(RDCS). A minimum of two years of progressively responsible
experience as an Echocardiography Technologist is preferred.
Maintain a high level of proficiency in all aspects of
echocardiography by maintaining current knowledge and clinical
skills. Participation in professional activities related to
personal and professional development, which contributes to
