Job Description:
The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) is
the largest state agency and is responsible for the care, custody,
and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for
violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State
Prisons, Correction Enterprises, Division of Community Corrections,
and Reentry Programs and Services. We have a mission that matters!
The NCDAC / Support Services / Division of Engineering,
Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) is recruiting for an energized
and collaborative Regional Maintenance Clinton Satellite Yard
Supervisor (Maintenance/Construction Supervisor III), to be a part
of the Piedmont Regional Maintenance Team but duty stationed at the
Clinton Satellite Maintenance Yard in Clinton, NC. This position
directly reports to the Piedmont Regional Maintenance Yard Manager
out of Asheboro, NC and will be tasked with supervising (3)
Regional Maintenance Technicians, (2) Regional HVAC Technicians,
and (1) Regional Admin Specialist, tasked with completing
like-in-kind Force Account preventative maintenance and
replacements. The Regional Maintenance Clinton Satellite Yard
Supervisor (Maintenance/Construction Supervisor III) position
provides planning, scheduling, and completing of routine and
preventative maintenance and like-in-kind small project system
replacements at (7) responsible Institutions and (14) supporting
Institutions within the Piedmont Regional Maintenance service area
but can be called upon to assist the Mountain and Coastal Regional
Maintenance Yards when necessary. A successful candidate for this
position, shall have multiple trade journeyman level experience in
the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of facility
systems, equipment, and machinery; be able to work independently to
complete work assignments received by a direct supervisor; read and
interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties. This
position requires the daily commute to either the Clinton Satellite
Maintenance Yard in Clinton, NC or assigned project location. This
is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
The work schedule is Monday - Friday and may require some weekend
work and overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization.

Introduction to the State Government Job Application and/or

level experience in the methodologies of facility maintenance and
repairs within (2) of the general, plumbing, mechanical,
electrical, and/or electronics trade disciplines. Demonstrated
experience in planning, coordinating, and/or managing maintenance
personnel in varied trade disciplines. Ability to clearly and
concisely communicate both verbally and in writing to subordinate
staff members for the purpose of relaying tasks and assignments.
Experience with reading schematics and blueprints. Management
Preferences: NC licensed as a General, Plumbing, HVAC, and/or
Electrical contractor. Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards,
State Construction Office guidelines, North Carolina Building
Codes, AND/OR laws and ordinances governing institutional /
industrial / commercial construction. Ability to use MS Office
(Word and Excel) and willingness to learn new software programs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job
postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of

related experience, OR a combination of both. Associate's degree in
construction management, air conditioning, heating and
refrigeration technology, industrial maintenance technology or
mechanical engineering technology from an appropriately accredited
institution and three (3) years of progressive experience in
construction or facility maintenance including two (2) years of
supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair
of buildings and facilities; or High school or General Educational
Development (GED) diploma and five (5) years of progressive
experience in facility maintenance or construction including
journey level experience in at least three (3) building or
mechanical trades including two (2) years of supervisory experience
in construction, maintenance and/or repair of buildings and
facilities; or an equivalent combination of education and

Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation,
Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence

Rehabilitation & Reentry. The Division of Engineering,
Construction, and Maintenance (DECM) serves as the NCDAC Capital
Project Coordinator (CPC) and is tasked with coordinating all
capital improvement, new construction, renovation, and repair
projects with the State Construction Office (SCO). DECM also acts
as the DAC representative on matters involving the State Property
Office and State Building Commission. Our unified purpose is to
provide architectural and engineering support, sustainability,
efficiency, and resiliency planning, as well as construction and
maintenance services. This ensures that all statewide Institutions
and Facilities comply with building codes, regulations, and
legislative mandates while promoting the agency's rehabilitation
and reentry goals through offender job training in the construction
and maintenance trades. We support the Institutions and Facilities
directly and indirectly by installing and maintaining kitchen,
plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and electronics equipment. The
DECM-Engineering team consists of experts in architectural and
engineering design, property services, project management, and
sustainability, efficiency, and resiliency (SE&R). These
services support new construction, renovation, and like-in-kind and
upgrade maintenance repairs to the agency's physical plant while
ensuring compliance with the NCDOA State Construction Office.
Through valuable rehabilitation and training for offenders, we aim
to improve recidivism rates. DECM-Construction undertakes
construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects that
involve longer periods of resource allocation with a focus on
enhancing the department's infrastructure assets. DECM-Maintenance,
which encompasses the Mountain Regional Yard, Piedmont Regional
Yard, Coastal Regional Yard, and three Satellite Yards, provides
essential plumbing, HVAC/R, and electrical preventative,
prescriptive, and routine maintenance services to all Institutions
and Facilities. Additionally, our maintenance efforts include
specific areas such as telecommunications, electronic intrusion
systems (EIS), fencing, cameras, fire alarms, and energy management
systems, all focused on maintaining the Department's infrastructure
assets. DAC uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to
